Description/Blazon

A gold metal and epoxied shield shaped device 1 1/8 inch (2.86 cm) in height blazoned as follows: Per chevron enhanced Or and Azure, between two supporting griffins Gules, a cross of the last, charged with thirteen mullets Argent, in chief a bugle of the first. Attached below the shield, a blue scroll inscribed “SUSTINEO PUGNA” in Gold.


Symbolism

The mission of support is represented by the per chevron division of the field.  The griffins symbolize vigilance, valor, and combat effectiveness in all battle engagements.  The cross with thirteen stars represents the first States of the Union and ideals of the new nation. The bugle represents the unit's call to duty and the Soldier's constant vigilance. Gold denotes excellence, dark blue represents integrity. The motto translates to “Sustaining The Fight.”


Background

The distinctive unit insignia was originally approved for the 149th Support Battalion on 26 June 2009. The distinctive unit insignia was redesignated for the 1792 Support Battalion on 18 June 2020. The symbolism was amended 14 July 2023.

That for the regiments and separate battalions of the Kentucky Army National Guard:  From a wreath Or and Azure, within a garland of trumpet vine clasped hands clothed at the wrists all Proper.
